Ferocactus pilosus is a biznaga of the family of cacti in the order Caryophyllales. It is endemic to northern and central Mexico. Ferocactus: is the generic name that derives from the Latin adjective "ferus" = "wild", "indomitable" and "cactus", to refer to the strong thorns of some species. The Latin word 'pilosus' is for its hairy bristles.
