The white peach, red peach, yellow xoconostle, chaveño nopal or white nopal (Opuntia leucotricha) is a phanerogam species belonging to the Cactaceae family native to Mexico. Opuntia leucotricha was described by Augustin Pyrame de Candolle and published in Mémoires du Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle 17: 119. 1828. Opuntia: generic name that comes from the Greek used by Pliny the Elder for a plant that grew around the city of Opus in Greece. leucotricha: Latin epithet that means "with white hair".
